Laurens Road Trail Spurs

Project Explores Connections from Green Line Trail to Nicholtown, Gower and Verdae Neighborhoods

The City of Greenville is currently working with consultants AECOM to conceptualize, engineer, permit and construct neighborhood trail connection spurs to the newly constructed Swamp Rabbit Trail Green Line Extension along Laurens Road.

The goal of these trail spurs is to provide a safe and direct connection for the Nicholtown, Gower and Verdae neighborhoods – ideally transitioning from existing neighborhood bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure into a designated shared-use pathway that leads directly into the Green Line of the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail.

All four of the spur routes will require crossing of Laurens Road, which is planned to take place at an updated and safe, signalized intersection.

Public Meeting Scheduled for March 28

City staff will hold a public meeting on the project on Tuesday, March 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Think Tank Brew Lab, 101 Airport Road. The public meeting will provide an opportunity for people to learn about and provide feedback on proposed routing of these spur connections.
